The show was amazing. After the first set or two, I started to relax and have some fun. I thought the audience wouldn’t take to me like they do William, but I was totally wrong. They accepted me just fine and there were no hecklers like I thought there might be. Huh.
Anyway, we played 2 1/2 hours straight, and even when it came time to do the song “Falling From Grace”, I didn’t mess up. That’s one of the numbers I had been having a bit of a problem with. Instead of playing it like William, at the last minute I decided to do it my way, and it turned out great! Woo Hoo!
The Club asked the band back for another show, so I guess we didn’t do bad at all.
A few of the regulars at the band’s shows took pictures and one girl (don’t remember her name), I think took a bit of footage on her cell phone. Bryan said he would ask her for copies so I can put it up here on the blog.
Oh! And guess what? After we got through playing, we went to sit in the audience with friends of the band. Just to have a drink or two and shoot the bull (as they put it). And… a few people came up to the guys for autographs and TWO of them wanted MY autograph, too! You could have knocked me over with a feather. I know it was just a 15 minutes of fame thing, but boy did it feel good! Doing shows does wonder for the old ego, you know?
So, in conclusion, William is still out of commission, and Don asked me to play again at their next show. I haven’t committed yet because I’m not sure if I can take the whole nerves thing and because William wasn’t at all happy the entire night. He just sat at his table and I swear glared at me the entire time. But I don’t know, cause I had on my sun glasses and it was really hard to see faces and such.
I had a great time, even if William didn’t, and the rest of the guys all slapped me on the back and gave me high fives and hooted and hollered after we came off stage. Don said it was one of their better shows and was talking about maybe recording a CD with me as drummer; but, like I told him… William is a friend, and unless he’s totally okay with it, I wouldn’t consider it. Although it sure is tempting.
I’m sorry this post is all over the place, but I’m still riding high on adrenaline and just the euphoric feeling from being accepted.

Oh, amazing! I’m so glad you had a good time and feel that you did well. You really must have. People wouldn’t ask you for your autograph if they didn’t feel it. I’m so happy for you. I feel for William but I keep thinking he brought this upon himself. You should definitely do the next show. After all, William is still out of commission and you are already used to practicing with them and know the songs. They would have to find someone else and that can’ t be easy. But of course, that is up to you. Regardless, I’m proud of you and hope we get to see some pics!
Thank you, Teeni! I did have a great time and although I haven’t committed to the next show, I’m seriously thinking about it. I plan to have a talk with William, too. He shouldn’t be jealous of me. He knows good and well I can never be a permanent member of the band (although I would love to, he he he!) And as for pictures and such, I’m counting on Brian to get them for me so I can share with everyone.
Congrats on your awesome performance! That really is amazing how you stepped in and learned all the songs so quickly, and actually went on stage and played with them, and pulled everything off so well! You should be very pleased with yourself. I’m glad it was fun for you too!
Thanks, Birdpress! The entire thing was like nothing I’ve before experienced. And…it can be addicting. I find myself wanting to experience that high over and over. Doing the show doesn’t even begin to compare with playing my drums at home for fun. Sigh. I want more!
Hi,
It sounds like you had a blast and it’s great that the band got asked to come back and play. William shouldn’t be upset with you, he’s the one who put himself in the position he is in by challenging you. Enjoy your moment in the spotlight!
Thank you, Spat! And it’s so nice to hear from you again, too. I’ve almost decided to do the next show, but we’ll see after I talk to William.
William should simply be proud and happy. You said he’s a friend???
OK…..
Well, I’m proud as punch that you did such a great job AND had fun! Oooo, autograph seekers for YOU! How awesome!
Go, Girl!!!!
Thanks, Trish! I know. The autograph thing really made my night. I think I had this huge grin stuck on my face for hours afterward.
I’m soooo glad you had fun at the gig! I knew you would
Don’t worry about William. For the moment, this is YOUR time! Now that you know you (still) have the chops, enjoy what comes your way. You never know what new adventures will await!
Thanks, Sue! William is so far from my thoughts today, he’s like way over in Fiji.
Wow,
I can’t imagine doing that…at all. I’m not good with any instrument. Seeing as how the Asst. Band Director in High School gave me the nickname “Elephant Man” because when I played my trumpet — I couldn’t play. In fact, when we were marching I was instructed NOT to play — to just hold the instrument up to my mouth. Pathetic? Yes. Congrats.
Thanks! And you’re too funny. I can just picture you marching while pretending to play. Actually, I can’t say that I’m musical. I only play the drums well. I took a lot of years of piano and still suck at it.
That is soooo coooool !
Congrats, Woman !
Thanks, Red! I don’t know how cool it was, but it was one hellova show.
that’s it…I’m now officially as jealous as I have ever been or ever will be. I WANT to play the drums…and there you are …living the life I want! SIGH!
If it says somewhere on here I’m sorry…I just am starting to get acquanted with your site…bands name? I would LOVE to hear you!
We live in a mobile home with 7 parrots, 5 cats , 1 dog and snake and except for the snake all make noise…so everybody vetoed mom getting drums..plus the fact we have no room. SO ..mom got a djembe. (to go along with moms….autoharp, celtic whistle, 3 guitars and keyboards that she never gets out ) …Ok well sometimes when nobody is home I get them out.
also…I see you have a black belt..I wanted one..I was working hard and then that disc in my back that I had been trying to ignore finally broke the rest of the way and put the skids on the belts. I also haven’t been able to lift weights which I hope to at least be able to get back to that.
…….and last but not least..you got a gun for Christmas? I LOVE target shooting. Last time I went target shooting with my copper buds though they disarmed me for being too good of a shot
So now I’m looking for new target shooting buddies
anyhow …I’ll hang out a bit and catch up on reading if you don’t mind..and feel free to come hang out over on my site too!
Well, well. We have tons in common, girl. Wish you lived closer; then we could go target shooting together. Yeah! The name of the band is Stealth. But it isn’t my band. Sigh. It belongs to my son-in-law and his buddies. BUT… as long as William is out of commission… I’m IN. Yeee Ha!
So does Stealth (cool name by the way) have cd’s? Is it posted somewhere out where I can listen to them? Would love to take a listen.
I’m still jealous by the way..even more so now that you posted that new wicked ass set SIGH GREEN WITH ENVY SIGH!
Nothing posted on the Web, but I DO have a CD of us playing. If I can figure out how to get the sound file on the blog for everyone to listen I’ll definitely do it right away. I just don’t know how. I can mail everyone a copy?
