My daughter (the DQ), gave me the entire set of the Twilight Saga, with a warning that they were infuriatingly addictive. Naturally, I didn’t pay much attention to her, and the books have been sitting on my nightstand since Christmas — hadn’t found the time to start reading.
Two days ago I decided to start reading the first book because I was bored, had nothing better to do, couldn’t think of anything better to do. About three pages into the book I knew I was a gonner. Hooked. Line and sinker I was in for the entire saga.
I really should be doing something more productive than reading for hours on end, but I can’t seem to stop. Even when my eyesight blurs just as if my eyes had been dialated by the eye doctor.
Stephenie Meyer’s books are quite long. Each totalling approximately 600 pages or so; yet, I’ve managed to down two of them in the space of two days. They move unbelievably fast. I’m not a terribly fast reader. They are compelling — sometimes painful to read. I never cry through movies or books, yet I found myself crying in several places through the second book, “New Moon”. How awful is that?
And yes, just like so many readers have said, I did want to throw the book against the wall a couple of times. Maybe three. I found myself hating Ms. Meyer. I felt betrayed even. But will I put the damned book down? Hell, no! Not even to sleep. At the rate I’m going I’ll have them all read by this weekend. Which isn’t good because I’ve already exhausted all my author sources and so, I’m out of reading material. Egad. For me, that’s a really bad thing. I hardly ever go anywhere without a book to read (just in case).
P.S. I haven’t yet seen the movie, but I’m sure I’ll like it. And that little fact, according to The Ego Chronicles, makes me barely a teenage girl!
“And of course, its probably still the bestest movie in the world if you’re a barely teenage girl.”

Welcome to the club!
I have been Stephanie’s fan since I picked up her very first book. Now most of my friends, and my friends friends…all have the collection of the Twilight box.
I’m thrilled you’re loving it too!
Nice blog by the way

My niece said these books were like crack. I thought she was overstating things until I found myself finishing New Moon on a Saturday night at 8:30 and driving to the bookstore for the next one, totally grubbed out with sweats, no makeup and a bad case of bed head hair.
The movie was pretty true to the story. Visually, it was impressive … how they got Edward’s skin to glitter in sunlight was amazing.
Anyway, I’m sooo hooked. You’re in good company!
Good to know I have company, Sue. Mostly it’s the men who can’t stand the book or the movie and I guess it’s because of all the mushy stuffeths in the movie? Who knows. All I know is that I really am loving the books.
Allison, let’s hope you don’t go out on a limb for Ms. Meyer like Kathy Bates did in “Misery”. hehe.
We know you’re not as crazy as any Kathy Bates character, though! (Why does she always play a crazy character?)
I might have to get that book. I already read ‘Into the Wild’ (I got it BEFORE the movie ever came out — I just happened to think the cover looked cool and bought it) 14 or 15 times. I read all the books of the Chronicles of Narnia, I read all my Goosebumps books from 4th grade, all of my Animorphs books from 5th grade and almost all of my Theology books from Bible College! (yes, I’m bored)
I’ve cleaned out my library as well.
I think you’re just a little bitsy bit more bored than I, my friend. Hee hee! Some of the stuff I read back in grade school would probably make me gag now. I was soooo silly.
And I am a man.
OOPS!
I went through the entire Evanovich mystery series the same way and am looking for something like this to pick up between the heavier reads I am usually into.
I have been looking for an easy-read and now I think I’ve found it. Thanks for the tip!
You’re most welcome, Trish. I seldom, if ever, recommend books because my tastes run a bit off the beaten path (mostly supernatural/paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi), but this series is definitely recommendable. You won’t regret it.
LOL. I just read the first two, passed on to me by my sister in law. She got the last two from the library so I imagine that is what I will have to do to finish the saga. I found the second one to be a bit more drawn out than the first but I really like the character of Jacob. Oh well. I will have to see where this all leads.
You won’t regret it. I, too, found the second book a bit cumbersome, but after I finished it, I realized it was imortant that it be drawn out in order to explain quite a bit. Makes the last two books easier to read.
I totally love Stephanie’s books. Just got the box of the collection of the Twilight, and must say it’s more addictive than crack.
Simply awesome stuff!
